Clinico Pathological Observation on the Uterine Myoma

Abstract
|
|
|
This clinico-pathological observation on the uterine myoma was based upon 218 cases in the 1882 cases which were operated in the Dept. of Obstertrics and Gynecology, St. Mary´s Hospital, Catholic Medical College, from the begining of 1963 to the end of 1966.
Summaries of the results were as follows:
1. Myoma was 11.6% of the total gynecological operation cases.
2. The highest, incidence was found in the age groups between 40 and 49 years, and theaverage was 44.96 years.
3: In most cases myoma had no definite influence .on menarche, menopause and menstrual. duration.
4. Abnormal genital bleeding were seen in 48.9 0.. of the chief complanints, and the next complanints were lower abdominal pain and leucorrhea.
In the submucous fibroid cases, abnormal genital bleeding were. seen in 76.2%, whiles the majority of cases complaining menorrhagia, in mixed fibroid cases.
5. The primary sterility was seen in 23.3% of the myoma cases, and the lowest incidence insubserous fibroid, the highest in subserous one.
6. The average hemoglobin value was 10.59g/dI. and the submucous myoma cases showed marked anemia with 8.54g/dl.
7. Uterine cancer was found in 4.13%(9 cases) in the all cases.
8. The proliferative phase of endometrial cyclic changes was predominant in .the myoma cases
9. In 16 cases of myoma (7.34%), adenomyosis was seen particularly in patients over 40
years of age, but one´ case in the ovary, and no case in the oviduct.
10. Normal ovarian figure -was proved in 29.82% of myoma patients, and the remainder havepathologic changes such as lutein cysts (26.60%), polycystic changes (21.56%), atrophy (15;14%), and bleeding(5.50%).
